I was born in Jamaica in the 1950s, and from 1961 spent many years being educated, living, and working in the UK. I moved to the USA in the early 1990s, and moved back to Jamaica in 2013. I enjoyed reading your blog. I am a US citizen (born in the UK) visiting Jamaica for the first time next week. I have always wanted to visit your beautiful island. My family and I will be staying at an all inclusive resort. I am also a fellow golfer and would like to play a round at the White Witch golf course, that is several miles away.
However I have been cautioned to stay on the resort because golfers can be potential victims when playing remote holes away from the club house. I do not want to put myself in danger but also do not want to pass pass on this wonderful opportunity due to exaggeration or paranoia….Most of my web searches on the issue have not helped.
It seems you are an excellent source for a dose of reality and perspective on this issue and I wonder if you could offer me any advice.

I’ve not played White Witch, but it’s adjacent to Cinnamon Hill, and I think they’re joint, ie, you can play both for a reduced rate. Given that, I’d suggest arranging to play both from Cinnamon Hill. The rate includes cart and caddy, so you won’t be totally alone. (The caddies are good and professional in their approach.) The course also has security located on the back side, adjacent to White Witch. You should be fine. Enjoy the visit and the golfing.

As a retired professional economist perhaps you can appreciate all of the good that this article’s description of a simple new application of old tech to the JPS’s electric power plants could do for JA if it is quickly adopted by the powers-that-be. Please read it and let me know if you believe it and if you have any means by which to reach any of JA’s leaders with it. After many efforts on the internet to reach some of them, my voice has so far been just too small to get through to any of them. Thank you.
